Leather.head is a band comprised of siblings Toby, Josh & Aidan alongside close friends Charlie & Cole. They make raw, politically charged, genre-bending music with varying instrumentation and a self-taught, DIY ethic that results in an erratic mix of postrock, slowcore, screamo and experimental metal.

The band have been writing and performing in some form or another since 2016: beginning with Toby and Josh as a saxophone and guitar duo who - despite an initial lack of skill and musical experience - were motivated by the lack of racial diversity in the scene and started playing DIY shows in Brighton essentially learning their instruments onstage. It wasn’t until 2022 (after their move to

London and the finalising of their lineup) that the group began recording and releasing music, after a steady stream of singles, an EP and a live record they are now preparing to release their debut album on 21/11/25. mud again was recorded with longtime collaborator Jamie Neville (Mark William Lewis, PVA, Gentle Stranger) at Teeth Studios over an intense 4 day period in Spring 2025. The album is an amalgamation of different styles and genres and an encapsulation of their sound that stretches far back to their early days. Album closer ‘friends’ being the first song ever written for the project - and brings them right up to the present with ‘death.healer ii’ written in the studio. Recorded live (with the exception of ‘death.healer ii’) with minimal overdubs the record seeks to document the band in their most natural state, playing live in a room together.

These tracks see the band push further into previously unexplored sonic territories than before, whilst undeniably retaining their distinct sound; from the cluster of vignettes that stack to form the album's centrepiece ‘traintracks’ , to the thundering doom of ‘fell’ , or the wavering improvised soundscapes of ‘mud again’ (the bands second collaboration with poet/playwright Zia Ahmed). Its a heady mix that can lurch from brutal frenzy to startling softness in the same bar, somehow retaining an erratic cohesion that rewards repeat listenings.
