Prehistoric Techno

Why The Eye is an experimental masked quartet from Brussels, delivering a chaotic, trance-inducing sound they describe as "Prehistoric Techno."

Formed in 2013 around the city's alternative Carnaval Sauvage, the band performs in homemade masks and chef’s jackets—a visual identity that embodies their raw, liberating energy. Playing entirely in real-time without loops or sequencers, the group relies on custom-built DIY instruments designed by member JP Domb, such as the 'radiocaphone' and 'castabignettes.' Connected to effects pedals, these creations generate wild polyrhythms that appeal to fans of The Residents, Autechre, and Fulu Miziki.

Following their 2017 self-titled debut and extensive tours across Europe's premier underground stages—including Dour Festival and Sonic Protest—the band returns with their new album, Inspirex, released via EXAG’ Records. Produced by band member Damien Magnette, the record captures their animalistic live energy through meticulous studio layering, resulting in an abstract, tribal, and deeply punk experience. The Inspirex era features a lineup of Magnette, Nico Gitto, JP Domb, and Jean-Philippe De Gheest, who joined in 2024.
