Following the modern shift initiated by their previous single “Tangerine’s Tango”, “These Days” completes this transition. It stands as a definitive post-punk manifesto, firmly rooted in the present. While the track's driving groove might suggest otherwise, the decisive influences of bands like Squid, Crack Cloud, invite a deliberate deconstruction, all over a biting yet never cynical political undercurrent.
Once again demonstrating their effortless freedom, the six musicians from La Rochelle drive the song towards an intense spoken-word finale, evoking a reimagining of Black Country, New Road, amplified with fuzz.
